Inner Self Dialogue

This wonderful tool put clarity to my past, hidden to me for 56 years, all of which made perfect sense now.  It is a tool that one can endlessly use and it is a doorway to answers hidden within the deep chambers of the subconscious mind.

I discovered Inner Self Dialogue in Hawaii, while visiting Julia Fairchild.  Her article, describing the process, is reproduced with her permission, below.

The sky is the limit with ISD, and even today I use it on a daily basis, asking all sorts of questions.  I have found that the most direct route to the answers I seek is to go directly to the Holy Spirit.

Writing in pen and ink gives me concrete answers, and articulates for me the concepts and answers that I otherwise would chase around and wonder about.  When I am dialoguing with left and right hands, there is no doubt in my mind where the answers come from.  Of course, I always pray first, and request that only Truth comes forth.  I am often surprised at the responses, and you will see yourself, that those responses are very different than what you might think they would be, or what comes out in regular dominant (in my case, right-hand) journalling.

I also want to emphasize that this is all about faith.  I have absolute faith that when I ASK to speak directly with the Holy Spirit, my prayers are answered, and only the Holy Spirit responds.

This process has been very exciting to me, as the deep inner perceptions, misperceptions, and sub-conscious workings have been revealed to me.  When you can become aware of the trauma, or otherwise formative experiences in your life, then you can address these issues directly, and move through them successfully.  This has become a powerful tool on my way to healing.

Julia further explains the process and the rules of right-left/hand journalling in her article below.  (Please note, that even though I would not have capitalized the letter "s" in "self", I am quoting Julia's article, and don't feel I can change it.  Please bear with her expression, as her way of differentiating her self from her Self, however it is that she sees it.)
Do You Talk to Yourself?
By Julia Fairchild

Have you ever talked to your Self, and wondered who answered?  More likely,
have you chased your Self round and round, ranting, raving, and ruminating, yet
never finding an answer?  How would you like to have direct access to the 90%
of your brain that uses YOU?  There you can come to better understand who you
are and gain physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual well-being, the basic
steps in learning to love your Self. You can ferret out the bases of the inner
reasoning of these parts of the Self who seem to run the show from the
recesses of the heart, mind, and soul.

Direct access can be as simple as asking, in writing, with the right hand,
and answering with the left (if right-handed). "Handedness" is thought to be
genetically determined, and points the direction to which (the opposing) side of
the brain is "dominant". That is, if one is right-handed, the left side of the
brain is in control of right-handed functions, such as those which are
verbal, analytic, symbolic, abstract, temporal, rational, digital, logical, or
linear.

In other words, the "left-brain" (right, if left-handed) loves numbers, has
to know why, helps one survive in this world, and sees one thing at a time.
This is the masculine, "dominant", bottom-line thinking side of the brain which
rules the functions of logic, reasoning, and mathematical equations. Make no
mistake; without left-brain functions, one would  wander aimlessly in
la-la-land!

"Right-brain" functions are altogether different. Right-brain sees the whole
picture from beginning to end; it operates in positive/spiritual mode. That
is, it doesn't have "reverse". Such words as "can't", "don’t" , and "won’t",
don’t register. Right brain works better quickly, and specializes in functions
which are :
non-verbal, (awareness with minimal connection to words)
synthetic (putting things together to form wholes),
concrete (relating to things as they are at the present moment),
analogic (seeing likenesses between things),
nontemporal (without a sense of time),
nonrational  (not requiring a basis of reason),
spacial (seeing where things are in relation to other things)
intuitive (making a leap of insight, often based on incomplete patterns), and
holistic (seeing whole things all at once; perceiving the overall pattern and
often leading to divergent conclusions.
In other words, in right-brain, there is no such thing as time and space.
Imagination runs unencumbered. Life is all a dream, uninhibited by facts,
figures, and bottom lines. Emotions are the defining characters. All memories
are stored, as originally perceived, though in liquid form, in right-brain.
With all these abstract, etheric, dream-like qualities, it is little wonder
that generations of people have shied away from delving into these realms of
thinking. But remember, these realms direct an estimated 90% of the functions of
your life. It is from these darkened corridors that decisions which rule your
ways originate. And all you have to do is ASK!

That’s right!  Ask any question. Write it down with your right (dominant)
hand, and then put the pen in your other hand, and write whatever comes to your
mind. It’s as simple as that.

There are some rules though, that you must remember, if you are to get the
most of your time in dialogue with your Self.
1. Never fear. While this is a way of accessing memories that you may not
have had available to you, your mind will NEVER release information that will
press you beyond your ability to cope.

2. Accept and honor every word that comes from left hand. Remember that
right-brain does not have access to logic, reasoning, or rational thinking. What
it perceives is what it believes, which doesn’t necessarily make it true in a
logical or rational sense. But, until you can determine where right-brain is
coming from, you are powerless to reframe it, to understand it, or to act
differently than you have been acting. How many of us always ACT in rational
ways?

3. Once you have brought these perceptions to consciousness, and can be aware
of their origins, you can then introduce logic and reasoning. You can then
bring in the perspective of the adult. Realize that these perceptions are most
likely those of the tiny child who first formed them. You must be as gentle
with your Self as you would be with your own little child who sees things from
his perspective of ignorance, innocence, and naiveté.

4. Remember that every act is based on the intent to protect and serve you.
Discover the noble intent, and negotiate ways of meeting the perceived need in
more productive ways.

Those are the rules. The rewards can be amazing. Take time on a regular
basis, to converse with your Self. Get to know all of the parts of your Self
which make up your complex and wondrous being. You can ask to speak to the inner sage, the inner physician, the inner child, your Higher Self, your dark side. .
.the characters are endless.

It has been my experience with myself and many others that right-brain is
actually your own personal door to the collective Consciousness. Your
imagination and intent are the only limits to the questions you can ask, or the answers you can receive.
